The aim of the GCO is to check and develop Aptitude in computers at early stage in students as it is required to get ready not only for future but also for present. Now is the time when we cannot imagine the world without computers. And this technology is advancing both in industry and home. It has become necessary for everyone to have the basic knowledge about computer. Computer is an electronic device used in almost every field even where it is most unexpected. That is why this age is called as the era of IT. And now we cannot imagine a world without computers. It is made up of two things one is the hardware and other is software. All physical components of computer like keyboard, mouse, monitor etc comes under the hardware whereas all the programs and languages used by the computer are called software. These days computers are the tools for not only engineers and scientists but also they are being used by millions of people around the world. Computer has become very important nowadays because it is accurate, fast and can accomplish many tasks easily. In future a student may want to join banking, communication , medical computers, media, education or any other field one can think of, an aptitude in computer is essential.

First Stage [Preliminary Exam] :

This is the Preliminary Round, conducted at institution level between the months of August 2 to January, all over India. In this round, the question paper consist of 30 MCQ to be solved in 40 minutes on OMR sheet. In Preliminary Exam students can participate only through their school. The Preliminary Exam will be conducted in their respective schools only.

Second Stage :

This stage is known as the Mains Round. Around 4 to 5% students qualifying in the Preliminary round are eligible to participate in the mains round, which will be conducted in the month of February. In this round, the question paper consist of 45 MCQ to be solved in 60 minutes on OMR sheet in their respective region itself. Results of the students qualifying in the second stage will be announced in the last week of March. For the students of class 1 to 5, the second stage will be the final stage and winners will be declared on the basis of performance in the second stage only. For classes 6 to 12, winners will be declared after third round.

Third Stage :

All the students above a cut-off mark in the mains round (decided by GOF), will be declared as District Toppers. These district toppers will further appear in a Skype / Telephone based oral interview session conducted by subject experts from New Delhi during mid April. The qualifier of this round shall be declared as State / National Toppers as per their eligibility.
During summer vacations all the toppers (State / National Toppers) of every class and every subject (standard VI to XII), will be called for one week FREE (with lodging and fooding) educational tour and a leadership camp .

Scoring System :

Each MCQ question have only one correct answers. For Standard I to XII 5 marks will be awarded for each correct answers. No marks will be awarded for wrong answers and 1 mark will be awarded for unattempted question.

CLASS II : 

Introduction to Computers, General Information about Computer, Parts of Computer, Uses of Computer, Learning to use of Keyboard and Mouse, Introduction to MS-Paint, Latest Development in the Field of IT, Logical Reasoning.

CLASS III : 

Fundamentals of Computer, Input and Output Devices, MS-Paint, Introduction to Internet, introduction to MS Word 2010, General Information about Computers, Latest Development in the field of IT, Logical Reasoning.

CLASS IV : 

Fundamentals of Computer, Evolution of Computer ,Software & Hardware, MSPaint, MS-Word2010, Internet and its uses, Window 7, Computer Network, Latest Development in the field of IT, Logical Reasoning.

CLASS V : 

Fundamentals of Computer, Computer Memory, Introduction to Multimedia, Windows 7, MS-Paint, MS-Word 2010, Introduction to MS-Power Point, Internet, Computer Networks, Latest News in IT, Logical Reasoning.
CLASS VI
Fundamentals of Computer, Memory & Storage Devices, Multimedia, History & generation of Computer, Windows 7, MS-Word 2010, MS-Power Point, QBASIC, Internet & E-mail, Latest Development in the field of IT, Logical Reasoning.

CLASS VII :

Student can collect registration form from exam coordinator of school by submitting Rs. 100 as registration fee. After filling the form it should be submitted to the exam coordinator of school.
